The Jubilee Jazz Band returns to the Casa de Cultura in Alcoy to perform in a concert and live recording session on 16th March 2012. The last performance there by this band was two years ago and it went down very well. See painting/poster below. [Painting by Raúl Botella]

With various musicians on holiday recently, we have been taking advantage of the opportunity to present some nice guest artists at Monroe's Carvery in Pedreguer. This week (Tuesday 6th September) we will feature Roy Hubbard (clarinet) and John Hutchings (trombone). They are coming all the way from near Torrevieja. Meanwhile, Pat Clancy returns on piano and Nigel Clegg does his second performance with us on drums. Mike Summers (trumpet) and Rene Dossin (double bass) complete the line-up.
On Tuesday 23rd August The Jubilee Jazz Band performed with several guest artists: Werner Kitzig (clarinet, not pictured) Javi Blanquer (drums) and Ted Brown (banjo). Rene Dossin recently joined the band on double bass, but on this occasion he was featured playing the sousaphone. Javi himself was called out last minute because Nigel Clegg (the drummer advertised) was indisposed. The guest musicians fitted in vary admirably, so it was another happy evening on the terrace of Monroe's Carvery, Pedreguer. Keen fans might notice that it was too hot to wear the usual uniform. Come to The Jubilee Jazz Band performance at Monroe's Carvery! It's every Tuesday evening at 8:30 pm.
We are pleased to announce that as of 9th August, Rene Dossin (Belgian double bass player) joined The Jubilee Jazz Band. He will share the Tuesday nights at Monroe's with John Shenton (double bass) - one week on, one week off. Meanwhile Ted Brown (banjo) has returned to Spain for a few weeks, and he will replace Patrick Clancy (piano) who is away from Monroe's Carvery on
16th, 23rd and 30th of August. Welcome back Ted! We are also pleased to announce that Nigel Clegg (drums) will appear with the band again on 23rd August. As of Tuesday 2nd August The Jubilee Jazz Band will perform at Monroe's Carvery every week. The starting time is still 8:30pm and there is now a music charge of 3€ per adult customer instead of passing the jug around. This is a fresh start for the band and we hope that customers will come and make the weekly residency work, just as in the good old days. Don't miss this opportunity to help keep authentic traditional jazz live! Thanking you all in anticipation.
The Jubilee has just got back from a successful performance at this event on 4th June. Now the band is eager and ready for its next session at Monroe's Carvery on 7th June.
Mike says: I received this information from a big band musician/promoter. I think that the venue "La Rustika" is somewhere near Torrevieja. So, if you live anywhere near there, you might like to support big band music.
Los Arcos has now changed it's name completely to La Rustika. They have changed their telephone number wothout telling us and the number in all our advertising is wrong. The correct telephone number is 965 703 685 or 622 760 340 Don Mather |
